As an author I started my writing journey in 2016. The inspiration to write the first book came from my experiences performing with a Bury St Edmunds Band in 1970/71. As a result Julius Pam: Beyond Reason was published in 2021. A great deal of pleasure and satisfaction came from writing this book. Inspired, I wondered if I could write a novel. With a modest B stream secondary education, I had my doubts. Mr Styles, my English teacher, gave enthusiastic encouragement. I paid little attention. But I thought, let’s give it try. So in late 2022 I started out on this new adventure. Initial inspiration came from both my grandfathers participation in the Great War, fighting in Belgium and France. When the Cuckoo Cries is the novel I have written over the past three years.
